  • BCG Treks More Than 10 Million Steps in April!

At Benefit Commerce Group, one of our guiding principles is to “talk the talk and walk the walk” with our clients.

For many of our clients, we incorporate health and well-being programs into their employee benefit programs.  We focus on wellness as an important part of our clients’ corporate cultures and their commitment to their employees.

During the month of April, we showed exactly how that works as our employees accumulated a total of more than 10 million steps in our Trek North Phoenix step challenge!  To be exact:  10,229,482 steps!!

Our step challenge ran from April 1st through April 28th, a full four weeks.  Our employees were organized into teams, and the teams named themselves as an added motivating factor:

Super Steppers

Agony of De Feet

Too Inspired to be Tired

May the Steps Be with You

Spongebob Slowpants

The Style Steppers

Each participant tracked steps with an approved fitness device or app.  Each team member had to achieve at least 50,000 steps each week in order for the team to qualify for top prizes.

To keep it interesting, the challenge included a “walking route” that began and ended at Benefit Commerce Group’s headquarters in Scottsdale.  The route traveled through McDowell Mountain Regional Park, Pinnacle Peak Park, Deem Hills Recreation Area, to Lake Pleasant, and then to Piestawa Peak, Echo Canyon Trailhead and the Phoenix Zoo.

An amazing 85 percent hit or exceeded 200,000 steps during the challenge period!  We are proud of all our employees for participating in this challenge, with an extra special shout-out to Shannon Kirk who logged over 500,000 steps!

And, we owe special thanks to the Wellness Council of Arizona for helping us set up the “course” and the rules for this challenge.  They do a great job working with employers throughout the state!
